Hopefully this news will not translate as news to you at all - the end of Adobe Flash is nigh. We originally broadcast this major announcement years ago. (http://www.flippagepublishing.com/news/2017/8/1/adobe-announces-end-of-life-for-flash)

At one time our digital edition viewer, as well as the page editing interface, were both powered by Adobe’s Flash technology. Our revised digital edition viewer, powered by HTML5, was released prior to Adobe’s announcement in 2017.

An updated page editor interface succeeds the legacy Flash version.

The next piece of the puzzle was developing a new page editing interface for our self-service users that also veered from Flash technology. As a result there are currently two options available for page editing within the client dashboard. The legacy option labelled as ‘Setup Pages (Flash)’ as well as the beta release ‘Setup Pages (Beta)’.

The new page editing interface offers some unique features as compared to its legacy counterpart. For example, the new editor allows users to enter a true full-screen mode where page content fills the viewing space. The page editing tools, such as building links, has been fine tuned to provide a more stream-lined process for editing page content. Another great benefit is that the new editor infers, and auto-fills, previously entered text into email and URL fields. This drastically reduces the amount of time required to create duplicate links within the document.

Have you had a chance to test drive the beta page editor? If not, try it. It handles well. If you would like us to ride shotgun while you navigate the new page editor just let us know. We’d be happy to show you the gears.

We will continue to support the Flash page editor in the interim with the eventual outcome being that it will be eliminated in coordination with the end of Flash.
